First Grade Quarter 1 Expectations

Comprehension:

I can use key details to describe characters using character traits.
I can use key details to describe characters using physical traits.
I can use key details to describe where the story takes place.
I can use key details to describe when the story takes place.
I can use key details to describe the problem in the story.
I can use key details to describe the solution in the story.
I can identify the main topic in a non-fiction text.
I can identify the key details in a non-fiction text.

 

Foundational Skills:

I can read regularly one-syllable words.
I can recognize and read 2G power words.
I know the spelling-sound correspondence for: br, cr, dr, fr, gr, pr, tr, wr, bl, cl, fl, gl, pl, sl, sc, sk, sm, sn, sp, st, sw, tw, ch, sh, th and wh.

 

Writing
I can use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence.
I can use finger spaces.
I can use punctuation.

Math:

I can use addition and subtraction within 10 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing,
I understand the meaning of the equal sign
I can solve word problems that call for addition of three whole numbers whose sum is less than or equal to 10.
