Parent and Family Engagement Plan 2025-2026

Moon Lake Elementary School

Each Title I school shall jointly develop with parents and family members of participating children a written plan describing how the school will carry out required family engagement activities. Parents shall be notified of the plan in an understandable and uniform format and, to the extent practical, provided in a language they can understand. The plan must be made available to the local community and updated periodically with parental input.

1. Parent Involvement in Planning, Review, and Improvement

How Parents Were Involved

All parents were invited through weekly email messages, weekly phone calls, text messages, Facebook posts, and marquee announcements. Copies of the 24–25 PFEP and Schoolwide Plan were provided at the meeting for review and feedback. Feedback was shared verbally, discussed during the meeting, and documented in SAC meeting notes housed in SharePoint.

2. School–Home Compact

How Parents Were Invited to Develop or Revise the Compact

All parents were invited through weekly communications (email, phone call, text, Facebook, marquee). Copies of the 24–25 compact were provided at the meeting for review and input. Feedback was shared verbally, discussed, and documented in SAC notes stored in SharePoint.

Face-to-Face Conference Requirement

Teachers meet with parents during Open House, which also includes the Title I Annual Meeting. Grade-level teams follow up by scheduling individual conferences. The school also pays teacher stipends for Conference Night.


3. Annual Title I Meeting

What Information Is Provided

Held during Open House to optimize participation. Provides an electronic presentation explaining Title I, its purpose, and its impact on the school.

How Parents Are Notified

Notifications are sent through MyStudent phone calls, emails, communication messages, and Facebook posts.

How Absentee Parents Receive Information

Information is shared on Facebook and through weekly MyStudent communications (email, phone call, announcements).

How Parents Are Informed of Their Rights

Included in the Annual Title I Meeting Powtoon, shared at Open House, and in the Annual Title I letter sent home at the beginning of the year, as well as during Meet the Teacher Day and the first week of school.


4. Coordination With Other Programs

Title III – ESOL

Support from an ESOL IA and District ESOL support personnel.

Title IX – Homeless

Social Worker and Data Entry collaborate to provide needed support and resources.

Preschool Programs

Pre-K HeadStart teacher and resource teacher coordinate meetings, events, activities, and transition services.

IDEA / ESE

ESE teachers and Student Services collaborate with parents to develop IEPs and provide additional support such as transportation or medical assistance.

5. Title I Funding for Family Engagement

Budget: $4,000

$1,500 – Supplies/Food

Used for Family Events such as STEM Night, Literacy Night, and Family Fun Night, sharing resiliency strategies.

$2,500 – Other Funds

Teacher pay for Parent Conference Night to review student progress, provide tools, and answer questions.

How Parents Are Involved in Decisions

Parents are invited to family nights through MyStudent messages, Facebook posts, and paper flyers. Teachers will schedule conference meetings for interested families.

How Input Was Documented

Input was gathered during SAC meetings (documented in minutes) and through event-specific surveys and overall school surveys (stored in an Excel spreadsheet).
